The journey begins....

Well a few months ago the hubs was offered an option to improve his career within his current company. The opportunity was promising and after prayer we felt it is what God has for our whole family at the moment. The job opportunity takes us from our home in Missouri to Virginia! We knew when he began working with this company that it would involve traveling and were prepared for that. To decide to take an opportunity all the way on the east coast, so far from family and friends definitely has taken a leap of faith!

So over the past few months we have been lining out house sales, house purchases, spending time with friends, figuring out how to say goodbye (not doing a great job of it), and planning to just say "see you soon." Now here we are. I really can't believe the time is here. The movers came and packed up all our stuff (an odd feeling to have complete strangers pack your belongings), the moving truck loaded it all up and left us with an empty home (also a very odd feeling). We hugged, cried, hugged some more, I cried more... and now we're about to take off in the plane tomorrow to Virginia.

The hubs drove down ahead of us and with help from his mom, has been painting their lives away in the new house. Tomorrow our kids, my mom, and myself get on the plane. The kids first plane ride, and my first with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. We're armed with snacks, books, and other various entertaining items and are praying for the best.

Overall we are nervous and excited for the next stage in our journey. We know we have made life long friends in Missouri who we can't wait to see again soon. And look forward to what the path will lead us to in Virginia. Please be in prayer for our family and our kids in the transition, we know God has a good plan and are excited to see what unfolds next!!!

"For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil, plans for hope and a future..." Jeremiah 29:11

Yarn Letters

When we move Owen will begin the transition into a "big boy" room. So that means updating his decor :) A while back I saw these yarn letters, and new I wanted to do some for Owen's room. So off to Hobby Lobby I went and bought some cardboard letters, and different colors of yarn. Here are some pics from the project.

Can't wait to show you a pic of the letters hanging in his new room!

Pillow Re-Do!

As we prepare for the big move to VA, I have some crafty house projects that I am going to complete before hand. I have finished several projects in the last week and will post about most of them this week before the big move. I can't believe it is just a week away!!! Crazy!!! But anyway, the first project I will share with you is some pillow re-do's. (This post is for you Dad since I know you LOVE throw pillows SOOO much!) :) I wanted to spruce up some rooms in our new house with throw pillows. We all know (well I should say "we all" refers to all women) that throw pillows are RIDICULOUSLY expensive! So I looked for some ways to add some throw pillow fun to our home without breaking the budget!

The first thing I ran across was throw pillow covers from Bed Bath and Beyond. These are awesome because they are only $10 and really well made. Considering it cost usually at least $20 per throw pillow I think these are a steal. Here are my couch throw pillows before:

and after the pillow cover:

My next two pillow projects were a little labor intensive, but very CHEAP.
I wanted new pillows for Eli's room and the basement area, so I went to Hobby Lobby, found some fun fabric, and sewed some new pillow coverings. Here are some before, during, and after pics of that project.

Random pillows I had laying around.

Starting the sewing project.

After some hard labor of sewing... NEW PILLOWS :)

These will be for Eli's Room. (love the pattern!)

These will go in the basement/guest area.

Total cost for this project - $8 for fabric

My last pillow project was also for Eli's room ( a girl needs cute pillows right?)

We took these boring blue pillows

I bought a package of buttons at Hobby Lobby and sewed buttons on the pillows to spruce them up.

Total cost of this project $5

So... a few hours of labor at $32 later I have 8 new throw pillows! I can't wait to decorate with our new throw pillows. There will be lots of decorating posts as the fun begins in VA!

Another crafty project tomorrow :)
